To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 08/10/2026. You may qualify based on your experience as described below: Individual Occupational Requirement: Positions in this series range widely in type and include support duties to medical or health personnel such as audiologists, speech pathologists, medical officers, and optometrists. Therefore, technician experience is experience that required application of the knowledge, methods, and techniques of the position to be filled. Specialized Experience: Do you possess at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-5) Specialized experience includes, Obtains, labels at the patient's bedside and sends laboratory specimens as ordered according to policy and procedure, Uses knowledge of human anatomy to provide first aid and patient care, Verbally reports and/or documents in the medical record observations of and the treatment given to the patient to insure accurate records and quality of patient care, using standard nomenclature and approved forms. Preferred Experience: Previous experience in Acute Care setting preferred. Experience with Phlebotomy and 12 Lead EKG preferred. Direct patient care experience required. The actual grade at which an applicant may be selected for this vacancy is the GS-06. Physical Requirements: The work requires the HT to be mobile throughout the Emergency Department and medical center as needed, involving standing, walking, bending, pushing, and lifting (moderately heavy). The HT should be capable of prolonged standing/walking and be physically capable of pushing equipment, wheelchairs and patient stretchers. Proper lifting and body mechanics must be utilized at all times to prevent injury.
