MANAGER, PHYSICIAL SECURITY (NORTH AMERICA)

WHAT YOU’LL GET TO DO

Own the North American physical security program for the company. You’ll set the vision for a great physical security program for Rocket Lab. You will use your knowledge of security to manage and assess physical security requirements at Rocket Lab sites and implement solutions to protect the Company’s people, products, and property.

Stand up our NA security operations and manage access control and the guard force, including technology, coverage requirements, training, and staffing.  Manage other suppliers and contractors for Rocket Lab’s physical security needs. Source, deploy, and implement security technology. Provide strategic direction to evolving physical security and safety issues.  Partner closely with cyber, program and other security personnel in the execution of the physical security strategy.

Work with site leaders to establish operating procedures for handling emergency calls, preparedness and response. Strengthen external partnerships with local and state law enforcement, federal agencies, third-parties, and community organizations.  Communicate and inform relevant partners, including Rocket Lab Executives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead physical security operations at all of Rocket Lab’s North American locations.
  • Directly manage on-site security team leads and coordinate with local leadership and stakeholders.
  • Oversee permanent and contracted security personnel and manage applicable subcontracts.
  • Conduct site vulnerability assessments and make recommendations for mitigation/improvement.
  • Ensure standard operating procedures exist and are implemented at all sites and implement event handling practices and procedures.
  • Manage NA security budget, recommend investments and ensure required capabilities are implemented.

YOU’LL BRING THESE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, security, or related field and 10 years of experience with increasing scope, responsibility, and complexity. Technology Start-up/Company experience is a plus.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in building, managing, mentoring, and inspiring physical security operations teams, with a proven track record of leveraging data to drive significant business impact.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify, analyze, and explain the present or future needs for proposed security initiatives to senior management.
  • Experience leading multi-site security initiatives, running large, cross-functional projects, collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders, conducting risk and vulnerability assessments, and writing corporate security policies.
  • Demonstrated conflict management and negotiation skills.
  • Domestic travel is required (~50%).
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen with a current SSBI and must maintain an active Top Secret SCI clearance with polygraph as required by program sponsor(s).

THESE QUALIFICATIONS WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE:

  • Demonstrated technical ability and experience with a variety of access control and CCTV systems.
  • Physical Security Professional (PSP) or Certified Protection Professional (CPP)
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills coupled with strong business acumen.

 

The expected salary range for the position is displayed in accordance with the California Equal Pay for Equal Work Act. Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience.
