Are you passionate about helping animals find their forever homes? AWL NSW is seeking a Foster Care & Rehoming Manager to lead our Foster Care and Rehoming programs across the state.

About the Role
As the Foster Care & Rehoming Manager, you’ll oversee the development, coordination, and continuous improvement of AWL NSW’s Foster Care and Rehoming programs.
You will lead a small, passionate team responsible for recruiting and supporting volunteer foster carers, managing adoption processes, and implementing creative strategies to promote animals for rehoming. Working closely with our Shelter, Veterinary, and Marketing teams, you’ll ensure animals receive the best possible care and rehoming experience from intake through to adoption.on.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop the Foster Care and Rehoming teams to deliver excellent animal welfare outcomes
- Oversee recruitment, training, and ongoing support of volunteer foster carers
- Manage adoption and surrender processes to ensure smooth, efficient, and compassionate experiences for animals and adopters
- Develop and implement creative marketing and digital strategies to promote rehoming
- Build partnerships with councils, rescue organisations, community groups, and other stakeholders
- Maintain accurate program records, reporting, and data insights
- Drive innovation and continuous improvement across foster and rehoming operations

About You
You’re a passionate animal welfare advocate with strong leadership and coordination skills, ready to make a meaningful difference.
You’ll bring:
- Minimum 3+ years’ experience in foster care, rehoming, or shelter operations
- Proven ability to lead and support a team in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Strong organisational, problem-solving, and decision-making ability
- Creativity and confidence using social media and digital tools to promote animals
- Understanding of relevant legislation (e.g. POCTA Act, Companion Animals Act)
- A genuine passion for improving the lives of animals and people
