Registered Nurse (RN-CN1), Gastrointestinal-8 East, Full Time, Days, ONA

UC Health is hiring a Full Time Registered Nurse (RN) Clinical Nurse (CN I) for the Gastrointestinal 8 East unit for the Day Shift at UC Medical Center.

The Gastrointestinal Nurse will support the Medical Centers medicine and Level 1 Trauma Center, delivering high-quality care to patients based on assessed needs, established standards of care and according to policy and procedures. This 16 bed unit has ratios ranging from 4 to 6 patients per nurse. This nurse will help manage liver patients (pre and post-transplant), cystic fibrosis patients, many off-service patients and some behavioral health components with medical needs.

PATIENT POPULATION - (CLINICAL ONLY)

Engages in population appropriate communication. Has knowledge of growth and development milestones and tasks. Gives clear instructions to patients/family regarding treatment. Involves family/guardian in the assessment, initial treatment and continuing care of the patient. Identifies any physical limitations of the patient and deploys intervention when necessary. • Works on another's behalf and represents the concerns of the patient/family and nursing staff. Serves as a moral agent in identifying and helping to resolve ethical and clinical concerns. Caring Practices:

• Nursing activities that create a compassionate, supportive, and therapeutic environment for patients and staff which includes vigilance, engagement, and responsiveness of caregivers.  Focus on the usual and customary needs of the patient at the present. Base care on standards and protocols. Promotes patient's independence by establishing patient care goals, teaching the patient/ family to understand condition medications, and self-care skills and answering questions.
