  • This position is a member of the Security Operations Team within Corporate Security, which is part of the Government Affairs Division.
  • You will be part of the 24/7/365 team working in the Integrated Operations Center (IOC), providing real-time security assessments, recommendations, and other assistance in support of the overall operation of American Airlines.
     

What you'll do

 

  • Assess reported security incidents to determine appropriate action, escalation, and response
  • Monitor Global Security Events to identify potential operational security risks
  • Provide guidance and assessments for all security-related incidents
  • Prepare and disseminate daily briefs and security incident notifications as needed
  • Make notifications of operational security incidents to relevant government agencies in accordance with regulatory requirements
  • Provide support as needed for the broader Security Operations and Risk team
  • Manage and execute internal and external watch lists
  • Inhibit passenger tickets to restrict travel as needed
  • Provide initial Corporate Security representation for all emergency activations
  • Interface with Local, State, and Federal government stakeholders during security incidents
  • Provide 24-hour operational security support system-wide to team members addressing security concerns
  • Build relationships with internal and external stakeholders

 

All you'll need for success

 

Minimum Qualifications - Education & Prior Job Experience

  • High school diploma
  • Fluent in English (Read, Write, Speak)
  • Work experience in one or more of the following areas:  Airport/Airline, Operations Center (such as GSOC), Security, Law Enforcement

 

Preferred Qualifications - Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Fluency in a second language
  • Airline and/or operational security experience
  • Experience with SABRE RES, DECS and/or QIK (also listed in Skills below)
  • GSC certification
  • Advanced degree and/or training, especially in emergency management or aviation
  • Leadership/Supervisory experience

  • Ability to be decisive and calm in a demanding operational environment
  • Ability to work any shift, including weekends and holidays
  • Ability to exhibit leadership, professionalism, courtesy, and respect
  • Skills in problem resolution
  • Ability to appropriately plan and prioritize multiple responsibilities
  • Ability to handle heavy call volume, email, and in-person requests at once
  • Ability to work well in a small team environment with minimal supervision
  • Ability to positively adapt to frequent change
  • Ability to be self-motivated and willing to initiate an action plan related to security incidents
  • Ability to self-manage attendance and performance
  • Knowledge of native SABRE RES, DECS and/or QIK
  • Knowledge of Sharepoint/Power BI
  • Knowledge of Everbridge mass notification system
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, etc.
