Liberal Arts Instructor (Part-Time)
Hawaii Tokai International College (HTIC) is a junior college, accredited by the Western Association of Schools & Colleges. Our educational mission is to embrace a set of living principles by which the learning community strives for excellence.
We are seeking instructors who are interested in engaging with international students in activities that contribute to their educational and personal growth and develop HTIC as a quality school. HTIC is looking for qualified instructors to teach the following subjects:
ENG 22 (3 credits) Introduction to Expository Writing
ENG 100 (3 credits) Expository Writing
ENG 200 (3 credits) Research Writing
ENG 250 (3 credits) American Literature
ENG 259 (3 credits) Literature of Peace
ENG 209 (3 credits) Business Writing
Job Responsibilities:
1. Develop an active learning environment that combines lectures, exercises, and field trips.
2. Consult and work with students in groups and individually.
3. Compile, administer, and grade exams and papers.
4. Prepare, conduct, assess, and report student/class results.
5. Adhere to requirements of incorporating specific objectives and course outcomes for all
classes taught in-line with institutional outcomes and mission.
6. Provide students with research assistance and instruction on the use of computers, the
Internet, and subject-specific materials during classroom instruction and one-on-one
guidance.
7. Create a learning community in respect to multilingualism and multiculturalism.
Minimum
Qualifications:
1. Master’s degree in content area from an regionally accredited college or university at the
time of appointment, or a master’s degree in a different content area with 18 upper and
graduate-level credit hours in the subject to be taught.
2. Minimum of one year of previous college-level teaching experience.
3. Able to communicate clearly and concisely verbally and in writing within the English
language.
4. Knowledge of teaching/learning psychology and methods.
5. Intermediate skills in MicroSoft software programs: i.e. MS Word and MS Excel and
familiar in using Google applications.
6. Must be detailed-oriented and accurate.
7. Self-motivated and have a strong desire to pursue and disseminate knowledge.

Kapolei, HI (required)
Working Days:
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday (hours may vary between 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM)
