Board-Certified Pediatric Neuropsychologist for Cardiac Neurodevelopmental Assessment

The Department of Pediatrics at Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) is actively seeking to fill a full-time clinical position for a Board-Certified Neuropsychologist to join the rapidly growing Pediatric Psychology Division of the Department of Pediatrics at VUMC. The majority of effort would be dedicated to providing neuropsychological services primarily in the outpatient setting within Cardiology at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt. The neuropsychologist will be appointed as a faculty member in the Division of Pediatric Psychology in the Department of Pediatrics at Vanderbilt University Medical center (open rank, depending on experience). The ideal candidate for this position should have prior experience working in a pediatric or academic medical setting and have clinical interest in cardiac neurodevelopment and program development. There will also be opportunities to participate in research, training, and education for medical students, residents, fellows, and psychology trainees.

Key Responsibilities: 

• Conduct neuropsychological evaluations with pediatric patients across the lifespan with congenital heart disease and other cardiovascular-related conditions. 

• Provide comprehensive, integrated reports and collaborate with medical teams across specialty areas to promote optimal developmental care.

• Advocate for patient educational and other services such as IEPs or 504 Plans as part of feedback planning Consult with families and other providers to review findings, diagnostic impressions and discuss recommendations.

• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to enhance the integration of neuropsychological services within cardiac care programs and contribute to the establishment of a model of care that involves long-term outpatient follow-up and acute inpatient care needs.

• Participate in the development and expansion of specialized programs for cardiac neurodevelopmental assessment.

Qualifications

               Board Certification in Neuropsychology (ABPP or equivalent).

• Specialization or strong background in pediatric neuropsychology (experience with cardiac conditions is preferred but not required).

• Experience in conducting neurodevelopmental assessments with children, adolescents, and young adults with medical conditions.
