Job Description
The Team:
The Cash Peer-to-peer (P2P) team is in charge of re-imagining and building powerful new product experiences for person to person payments. This team owns and operates the core product experience of millions of Cash App customers. The contributions you make on this team will be used by millions of people in a wide variety of scenarios. We are seeking an experienced and motivated individual to contribute to the development and enhancement of our cutting-edge payment solutions.
The Job:
As a Senior Software Engineer on this team, you will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and maintaining robust, scalable, and secure peer-to-peer payment systems.
You will:
- Scope, build, and scale products, systems, and services that have an immediate impact on our customers.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze and understand technical requirements, translating them into technical specifications and designs.
- Lead and participate in critical technical, design, and product discussions.
- Test, maintain and deploy high-quality software solutions ensuring adherence to coding best practices and industry standards.
- Participate in all parts of product development, working with non-Engineering related disciplines (Product and Design) and adjacent Engineering teams (Mobile, Platform, Machine Learning, and Data Science).
- Conduct thorough code reviews and provide constructive feedback to junior team members, promoting a culture of continuous improvement.
- Monitor and address performance bottlenecks, system failures, and security vulnerabilities.
Qualifications
You have:
- 3+ years of professional experience in software development
- Solid understanding of distributed systems, network protocols, and data structures.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- Boundless curiosity, persistence and a desire to get things done
- Experience building backend systems and working with FE/mobile teams
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, or equivalent experience.

This role can support remote employment across North America.
Block takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. U.S. locations are categorized into one of four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.
Zone A: USD $167,300 - USD $204,500
Zone B: USD $158,900 - USD $194,300
Zone C: USD $150,600 - USD $184,000
Zone D: USD $142,200 - USD $173,800
