Pratt & Whitney’s Compression Systems Engineering (CSE) Module Center is currently seeking a technical leader, mentor, and coach with a desire to advance the state-of-the-art in impact dynamics.
Pratt & Whitney needs to continue to grow and harmonize impact dynamics application across the business. The Impact Dynamics Senior Fellow will grow this industry-critical subdiscipline across multiple organizations (ED&L, CSE, HSE, MSEN). Learning through recent development programs has highlighted system impact (bird, FBO, etc.) responses as a critical area of focus for the company and an evolving certification through analysis area.
Fellows contribute to the development of people, products, processes and tools. As such, Pratt & Whitney seeks candidates who excel in Leadership & Technical Excellence, Innovation, Mentorship, and Teaching.
What You Will Do
- Define best practices around software suites and validation of tools. Drive best practices for modeling. Ensure users at all levels are leveraging best practices as defined by industry, and P&W. Assist engineers relatively new to P&W or new to Impact with the goal of getting them to world class and growing discipline health.
- Review modeling practices and validation to ensure that validation is rigorous and based in engineering reality. Given the costs and program effects of impact related learning, ensure appropriate expectations are clearly defined to support data-driven risk-based decisions.
- Work across RTX (with emphasis on PWC) to drive sharing of knowledge and best practices
- Engage with the global impact community through conferences, review of papers, and relationship building to maintain knowledge of the state of the art, competitor capabilities, and to build recognition of P&W as an industry leader.
- Engage with DoD and DoE on opportunities to leverage outside expertise and OPM and raise P&W’s profile. Build relationships and work closely with DCMA, ODA, FAA, EASA on rule making, testing, and best practices
- Support Model Based Enterprise initiatives and improve handoffs between disciplines. Works closely with P&W High Performance Computing team to define capacity and capability needs. Drive best practices for on-prem and cloud compute resources. Interface with DT, and users to understand process pain points, and lead mistake-proofing, process improvement, and user experience improvement.
- Address speed/productivity of the entire Impact Dynamics value stream
