We are looking for:
The Sales & Use Tax Manager who will be an integral member of the North American tax team responsible for leading the sales tax department including preparing taxability analyses, quantification of potential liabilities, exposure mitigation, implementing tax processes, liaising with tax authorities, refund reviews, and more.
We can count on you to:
- Collaborate with the business to advise on the sales tax treatment of purchases and capital improvements, providing clear communication and guidance that explains tax issues to non-tax professionals.
- Conduct detailed reviews of sales tax returns and tax account reconciliations and provide review notes to the sales tax specialists.
- Oversee all sales and use tax audits and provide guidance and review notes for workpapers submitted for audit support and review.
- Maintain internal controls over sales and use tax policies implemented by the tax department.
- Work with the technology team supporting our tax software around classification of items to efficiently determine accurate taxability of both sales and purchases.
- Monitor sales and use tax developments and issue communications to the business as necessary.
- Conduct tax research and provide technical advice on multi-state issues related to sales tax.
- Implement process improvements to the current workflows of the team.
- Mentor and develop team members, providing ongoing feedback and identifying opportunities for growth.

You will bring:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in Indirect tax, preferably in the manufacturing industry.
- Previous management experience is preferred but not required.
- Vertex O-Series experience required.
- Solid technology background with knowledge of Excel along with other Microsoft Office products, SAP, and Avalara.
- In-depth knowledge of tax laws and regulations related to sales tax, specifically in the manufacturing industry.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, strong attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.
