About the role

Responsibilities

We are hiring!  We are looking to add a Junior Project Communications Specialist This role will assist the Office of Communication (OC) with providing content through a content management system (CMS) and supporting CDC-INFO Special Projects. This role will be involved with the development of content in collaboration with CDC personnel and the dissemination of that information by way of social media, text, chat, the web, and this CMS software.

 

What you will do:

  • Understanding of public health communication strategy, including ability to synthesize and distill information into key points, prepare and execute communication plans for the promotion and distribution of CDC tools, and review website metrics/data to determine reach of the implementation of the communication strategies.
  • Support quality assurance / quality management activities such as CDC-INFO call reviews. Activities would include looking at products developed or call recordings from CDC-INFO to assess the degree to which they meet established quality standards (e.g., 27-point QA checklist for graphics products or evaluation criteria for CDC-INFO call recordings or e-mail responses that assesses degree to which exchange is complete, accurate / within prepared response (PR)).
  • Compile information for routine or ad hoc reports.
  • Update of databases / spreadsheets (including input of PowerBI or Adobe Analytics data).
  • Develop and manage the ongoing project timeline and schedule for special projects.
  • Schedule and lead meetings with CDC-INFO vendor, CDC-INFO team, OC web team, and CDC programs to coordinate project tasks and/or increase program engagement.
  • Coordinate 508 compliance reviews and approval processes for special projects.
  • Coordinate security reviews and documentation for OC ISSO offices.
  • Provide support in all CDC-INFO business unit areas 
  • Create performance work statements, project outlines, business statements, and other necessary reports for project documentation.
  • Coordinating meetings and creating and managing documentation for a project (e.g., chat projects) or for CDC information dissemination of tools or messages.
  • Good interpersonal skills, ability to multi-task, be flexible with time and tasks, work independently, problem solve, think critically, and the ability to work well on a team and serve as a team player and representative of the team to other CDC programs.
  • Assist with other communication tasks that arise that support the mission of CDC-INFO, such as reviewing how content is used by the contact center through listening to call recordings and performing mystery calls

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • BS/BA; 4 years without a degree
  • Ability to adapt/edit content for use in short-form media for public distribution, such as social media, the web, text/chat messaging campaigns, mobile applications, and/or email newsletters.
  • Experience with large-scale content efforts to improve the organization, clearance process, accuracy of content, and maintenance of information
  • Ability to provide help with written materials and images, such as PDF conversion, detailed editing of pre-prepared written materials, including prepared responses and CDC announcements, while preserving original meaning
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office Suite and WordPress
  • Good written and verbal communication skills to write and send emails
  • Must be a US Citizen or a Green Card Holder
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain the required agency clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active CDC clearance
  • Public Health experience
