Professional Service Industries, Inc. (Intertek-PSI) is looking for a PART-TIME Geotechnical Engineering Intern to join our Building & Construction team in Orlando, Florida. Intertek-PSI is a leading US based provider of assurance, testing, inspection, and consulting solutions in civil and commercial construction. Our broad service offering includes construction materials testing, geotechnical engineering, environmental consulting, industrial hygiene, and specialty testing. Through these risk management and quality assurance services, we ensure the reliability, safety and performance of our client’s new developments, existing assets, and facilities.

2024 Internship – Geotechnical Engineering - PART-TIME

What are we looking for?

The Geotechnical Engineering Intern role provides support to PSI's engineering straff through conducting site reconnaissance visits, stratifying soil and rock samples, asssisting with preparing field investigation assignments, writing proposals and reports, performing engineering calculations, and computer modeling.

Job Title:  Intern, Construction

Location:  Orlando, FL

Schedule:  Monday through Friday, 15-30 hours/week

What you’ll do:

• Perform a variety of office and field tasks to support PSI's engineering staff under direct supervision and/or from detailed controlled procedures.
• Work utilizing drawings, specifications, and diagrams
• Communicate effectively with client and project teams
• Must be aware of, and adhere to, safety practices and policies to ensure your own safety, as well as the safety of others who may be affected by your actions at work 

What it takes to be successful in this role:

• Current student pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Geology required
• No Experience Required – We Will Train!
• Must have Basic Math, Calculator and Computer Skills
• Ability to communicate and interact effectively in verbal & written communication
• Must be able to read and understand work plans
• Valid Driver’s License and reliable driving record (required)

 Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift, move, push and pull 30 to 50 pounds occassionally. Occasionally, over 50 pounds with assistance.
• Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, (hearing) and to make the discriminations in sound.
• Ability to kneel and squat occasionally
• Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time
• Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions (hot and cold)

Preferred Requirements and Qualifications:

• Engineering in Training (EIT) Certification preferred
