Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced full stack Staff Software Engineer to help design and implement modern software solutions based largely on JavaScript, TypeScript, React, NodeJS, Angular, C#, C++, .NET, and other relevant modern technologies. The candidate will join our BDB Software Ecosystem team to help improve cross-program user experience, consistency and interoperability via improved APIs, separation of concerns and structured reuse. We are looking for someone with a strong technical experience and domain knowledge, experience in problem solving, strong passion, interest and quick learning abilities; someone who’s detail oriented with an initiative to drive tasks to completion, someone with a bias for action with accountability for results. A candidate should be passionate about software engineering with a strong technical background and extraordinary communication skills. Responsibilities will include executing on BDB software ecosystem initiatives, which involves supporting individual software product core teams in their development efforts in support of the BDB software ecosystem strategy. This is a San Jose, CA – based hybrid role to ensure effective collaboration with the majority of the individual software product core teams.

Job Functions:

• Develop well-designed, testable and highly efficient full stack code by incorporating software development best-practices and anticipating future needs with attention to feasibility, performance, system integration and maintainability.

• Help identify and address opportunities to improve cross-program user experience, cross-program consistency, and interoperability​ among BD software.

• Help identify and address opportunities for structured reuse.

• Help identify and address opportunities for duplication and software maintenance cost reduction.

• Work with product owners, managers, designers, engineers and architects to help individual software product teams support our software ecosystem strategy.

• Help refine functional and non-functional requirements as necessary, interpret those to create engineering specifications.

• Create and maintain appropriate documentation and test coverage.

• Stay ahead of emerging technologies and industry trends; apply those as appropriate.

Essential Qualifications:

• MS in computer science, computer engineering, or another relevant field.

• 7+ years of relevant software engineering experience.

• Experience with JavaScript/TypeScript/Node.js ecosystems.

• Experience with at least 3 out of the following programming languages: JavaScript, Java, C/C++, C#, Go, Ruby or Rust.

• Expertise in React, Angular, Vue or another JavaScript framework.

• Deep understanding of semantic HTML and CSS.

• Fluent with git or another modern version control system.

• Experience working on development teams using Agile methodologies.

• Collaborative teammate and culture fit who strives to assist and unblock peers, participates in code reviews, and suggests improvements to designs, requirements, and processes.

• A technical attitude with excellent attention to detail.

• Strong passion for problem solving, continuously learning, adapting, and taking initiative in a rapid-pace Agile environment.
