Description
The Department of French and Francophone Studies at Brown University is seeking applications for a language instructor at all levels (three-year contract, renewable).
Responsibilities will include teaching French language classes at all levels (4 courses a year, 2 per semester), coordinating multi-section French language courses, training and supervising Graduate Teaching Assistants, and supervision of Undergraduate Teaching Assistants.
Qualifications
A Ph.D. or ABD in French and Francophone Studies and/or language pedagogy, near-native fluency in French and English, and in-depth knowledge of France and the Francophone world are required. The successful candidate will collaborate with the other members of the program to teach and coordinate courses in the language sequence and will also participate in the ongoing development of the curriculum as well as in the pedagogical training of Graduate Teaching Assistants. They will contribute to the goals of the French program by promoting literacy and integrating fundamental practices of the discipline (creative and expository writing, close reading, intellectual engagement with literary texts and films) across all curricular levels while participating in the broader Humanities mission of the University. Additional duties will include committee assignments, advising, and community engagement.
