About the role

Summary

Salvages materials in industrial or commercial establishment by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Monitor scrap output daily for compliance to process requirements and identify potential areas for improvement.
  • Provide small group training/mentoring on job function/material cost impact.  Priorities to be established by results from the scrap monitoring process.
  • Provide feedback to operators on material cost concerns and parts usage.
  • Open communication path with individuals that have a history of knowledge on previous problem areas (i.e. maintenance personnel cleaning machines and retrieving parts out of the bottom of washers)
  • Identify problem areas, communicate those with the area leads/production managers, and follow-up that issues have been addressed (i.e. faulty baskets, adequate component storage areas etc.)
  • Maintain action list for all open items that can serve as another tool for the product family teams continuous improvement.
  • Assist in root cause analysis for material cost and BOM attrition rate usage issues.
  • Identify and assist with development of potential material salvage opportunities.
  • Conduct periodic reviews to confirm new parts are not being used when reclaim parts are available and that operators are ordering parts correctly from the parts ordering system.

Education and/or Experience 

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Language Skills 

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.   Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.  Must be able to read and understand English.

Mathematical Skills 

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.  Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

Reasoning Ability 

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.  Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills 

Computer skills

Including use of Microsoft Office suite, Internet Explorer, Infoflo, ShopFloor, and Proplanner.  Completion of 10 week Lean, Transmission or Engine Course desirable.  ASE Certification a plus
