Job Description:

The Senior Director of Global Technical Operations for Wound Closure Healing (WCH) is a pivotal leadership role responsible for overseeing the technical operations that ensure the seamless introduction and lifecycle management of surgical products in the market. This esteemed position demands a visionary leader with a profound understanding of both technical and operational aspects of medical device manufacturing.

The individual in this role will ensure that new products are strategically launched into the supply chain while effectively managing the existing product portfolio. Strong collaboration with cross-functional teams is essential for successful program execution and alignment with business objectives. This leader will prioritize quality, cost efficiency, and timely delivery, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Vision and Leadership:

  • Develop and implement a clear and actionable technical and business strategy aligned with organizational goals and market dynamics. Assess future needs and proactively plan for innovation in technical operations.

Process Engineering Support:

  • Lead the establishment of robust Process Engineering capabilities to support manufacturing operations across all internal and external sites. Drive initiatives to enhance production efficiency and product quality.

R&D and New Product Introductions:

  • Cultivate strategic partnerships with commercial and R&D teams, translating customer insights and market trends into innovative product introductions. Ensure that all new products are launch-ready, focusing on Supply Chain integration, timelines, stability, and cost-effectiveness.

Lifecycle Management:

  • Oversee the entire lifecycle management process for products in the Surgery/Biosurgery segment. Streamline operations to simplify processes, accelerate timelines, and reduce costs from New Product Development (NPD) stabilization through to end-of-life strategies.

Project Management Excellence:

  • Guarantee excellence in project management practices across the end-to-end supply chain. Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with strategic business objectives.

Advanced Capabilities Implementation:

  • Identify and integrate advanced technological capabilities such as automation, digital solutions, and data analytics to drive operational efficiency, growth, and cost containment.

Operations and Engineering Management:

  • Partner with manufacturing sites to ensure compliance with technical standards and best practices. Monitor and evaluate operational performance to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.

Talent Development and Team Leadership:

  • Mentor and develop a high-performing team of technical leaders. Foster an environment that encourages professional growth, collaboration, and excellence in execution across all technical operations.
  • Collaborate with Quality, R&D, Supply Chain, Commercial, Procurement, and Operations teams to achieve strategic goals. Engage with external manufacturing partners to manage collaborations and ensure alignment on quality and operational standards.
  • Responsible for making significant hiring and budgetary recommendations and decisions, conducting performance reviews, and planning the work of others.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline; an advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) is preferred.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in medical device manufacturing, quality, and/or R&D, with 7+ years in a senior technical leadership role that includes people management responsibilities.
