Summary

As a provider, you will care for the emergent, urgent and chronic care needs of inmates. There is nursing support staff 24 hours per day. You will act as the liaison between the correctional facility, local physicians and hospitals. You will prescribe Schedule II-V drugs as appropriate in accordance with State licensing requirements and the prescriptive authority by the Alaska Board of Nursing or the Alaska Medical Board.

The position has significant autonomy. With autonomy, the provider works with nurses, behavior health and social work to provide overall care for the inmate. The provider is never left alone; help from other providers is always available by phone.

The nursing staff and providers work in tandem to provide medical care for inmates within a correctional facility clinic. All facets of inmate care are coordinated through facility security in a safe environment.

• Technology Application: Uses machines, tools, instruments, or equipment effectively; uses computers and computer applications to analyze and communicate information in the appropriate format.
• Teamwork: Encourages and facilitates cooperation, pride, trust, and group identity; fosters commitment and team spirit; works with others to achieve goals.
