The Target Pay for this position is $28.00- $30.00 an hour. At Antech, pay decisions are determined using factors such as relevant job-related skills, experience, education, training and budget.

Job Purpose/Overview 

The Senior Technician: Instrument Service is responsible for advanced troubleshooting, repair, calibration, quality assurance, and preventive maintenance of Antech laboratory instrumentation. This role serves as a senior-level technical expert within the department, mentoring junior technicians, supporting workflow optimization, and collaborating cross-functionally to ensure service quality, regulatory compliance, and customer satisfaction.

This position requires strong technical expertise, leadership capability, and the ability to maintain high standards in a fast-paced service environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Maintenance & Repair (70%)

  • Perform all Service Technician I/II level responsibilities, including diagnosing, troubleshooting, repairing, calibrating, performing preventive maintenance, and conducting quality assurance checks on all Antech instrumentation.

  • Service hematology, chemistry, blood gas, electrolyte analyzers, infusion pumps, laboratory support systems, and related products.

  • Demonstrate advanced understanding of theory of operation and underlying physiological principles of laboratory instrumentation.

  • Lead complex or escalated troubleshooting cases and serve as an internal escalation resource.

  • Ensure all repairs meet operational performance standards, quality system requirements, and regulatory specifications.

  • Perform service and validation on internal instruments (production, rework, field returns, etc.).

  • Maintain and validate exchange instrumentation quality compliance.

  • Meet or exceed established service turnaround expectations, including 24-hour turnaround on assigned customer units when applicable.

  • Identify recurring technical issues and recommend corrective or preventive actions.

Technical Training & Mentorship (10%)

  • Mentor and train Service Technician I.

  • Support onboarding and technical skill development.

  • Share technical knowledge and best practices to elevate team performance.

Workflow & Operational Support (5%)

  • Partner with the Service Supervisor to optimize workflow, queue prioritization, and turnaround efficiency.

  • Collaborate with the Tier IV Engineer on technical development initiatives and special projects.

  • Contribute to development and improvement of repair protocols, procedures, and best practices.

  • Monitor exchange and loaner instrument pools to ensure adequate inventory levels.

  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance department performance.

Technical Support & Customer Communication (5%)

  • Serve as a subject matter expert for internal teams on escalated technical issues.

  • Provide high-level technical guidance to internal stakeholders and customer-facing teams.

  • Communicate professionally with customers regarding service status, repair findings, and technical recommendations.

  • Remain current on product updates, software changes, and technical modifications and understand their operational impact.

Documentation & Quality Systems (5%)

  • Prepare accurate, timely, and complete service documentation for all serviced instruments.

  • Maintain compliance with Quality System Regulations and internal quality standards.

  • Assist in developing and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), repair protocols, and service documentation.
