Vice President, Phoenix Sales

About the role

ICON is seeking a proven sales executive to serve as Vice President of Phoenix Sales at ICON overseeing our Phoenix robotic construction system, the world’s most advanced 3D printing platform. Phoenix is a transformative, intelligent machine designed to further automate construction with capability of multi-story printing and delivering full building enclosures, including foundations and roofs. This role is responsible for the strategy, pipeline development, and execution of all sales efforts related to Phoenix.

The ideal candidate has experience selling large, complex, engineered systems to end users and decision-makers in the construction, industrial, or heavy machinery markets. They are both strategic and hands-on, with a track record of building relationships, closing multimillion-dollar deals, and leading high-performing sales teams. This role will work cross-functionally with engineering, operations, marketing, and finance to ensure that Phoenix achieves market adoption and commercial success. This role is based at ICON’s Austin, TX campus and will report to our CEO.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead all aspects of sales strategy, execution, and revenue generation for ICON’s Phoenix robotic construction platform.
  • Build and manage a pipeline of qualified opportunities with general contractors, developers, and construction executives.
  • Establish sales channels and strategic partnerships with early adopter customers in industrial and commercial construction markets.
  • Develop pricing strategies and sales models in collaboration with finance and operations.
  • Lead contract negotiations for complex deals involving hardware, software, services, and long-term support.
  • Work closely with product and engineering teams to communicate market needs, support pilot deployments, and influence roadmap priorities.
  • Represent ICON externally as a thought leader and subject matter expert in construction automation and advanced building technologies.
  • Build and lead a team of technical sales professionals focused on large-scale machinery sales and client success.
  • Partner closely with ICON’s growth and marketing teams to refine messaging, generate leads, and align on go-to-market strategy and customer success..
  • Deliver and maintain accurate revenue forecasts, KPIs, and sales performance dashboards.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • 20+ years of experience in B2B sales or business development, with a strong track record in capital equipment, robotics, construction technology, or industrial machinery.
  • 5+ years of experience in a senior sales leadership role with a demonstrated ability to lead, grow, and mentor teams.
  • Experience selling into construction or manufacturing sectors and navigating long, technical sales cycles.
  • Demonstrated success in developing multi-million dollar deals and enterprise-level customer relationships.
  • Familiarity with construction site operations, project timelines, and stakeholder dynamics.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and executive presentation skills.
  • Comfortable traveling regularly to job sites and customer offices nationwide.

 

PREFERRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or a related field.
  • Experience selling robotic systems, advanced machinery, or automation platforms in the construction or industrial markets.
  • Deep understanding of construction project delivery, permitting, procurement, and project finance.
  • Technical fluency in large mechanical systems and construction technology platforms.
  • Strong understanding of margin, pricing, and cost modeling for complex products and services.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment, with a bias toward action and results.
