Job Description

NOTE: This summer internship is for up to 13 weeks, starting from the first day of the internship and ending no later than September 5, 2025. Interns are expected to work 35 hours per week in person.

About the Team

Central Development Programs (CDP) division conducts plan examination for specific work types and other small-scale work citywide, including Antennas, Solar, Electrical Battery Storage, and Signs. CDP Project Advocates team includes the Small Business Team (SBT), which provides small business owners and entrepreneurs the dedicated DOB support they need. CDP Project Advocates also coordinate with various City agencies to resolve issues arising in city-owned or city-funded applications.


Position Responsibilities

Under the direction and supervision of Senior Project Advocate, the intern will:
- Conduct research for the Project Advocates team
- Participate in staff trainings
- Assist the Senior Project Advocate in researching on-going DOB issues and prepare training material
- Prepare business correspondence and DOB official letters for the Borough Commissioner’s Office
- Assist with tracking, time management, and technical presentations


Major/ Field of Study
- Architecture, Architectural Technology, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology or a related field.

Qualifications

As of June of the Program year the prospective interne must be a student matriculated in a college or be a recent college graduate (winter/spring term of the Program year).
NOTE: Appointment to this title is only valid for the duration of the Program, June - August each year.
