The Protected Communication Systems (PCS) Team in Largo, FL is seeking an experienced Senior Systems Engineer in a role committed to creating creative and cost-effective solutions for our ground and airborne systems.

As part of Collins Mission Systems, we specialize in developing advanced communication systems, ground and flight computers, sensors, cyber and software solutions, as well as providing integration of Mission Systems. As part of the PCS Department, the Systems Engineering department supports a variety of communications systems including Secure Switching Networks, SATCOM, and networking for ground based, ship, submarine, and airborne platforms.

This position is eligible for relocation assistance.

Responsibilities:
    • Leading the development of full lifecycle solutions from CONOPS to Validation
    • Defining lab activities including definition, setup, configuration management, and testing
    • Defining Modeling, Hardware, and Software Interfaces
    • Use of Digital Twins and their boundaries
    • Integration of Solutions within their target environment
    • Working autonomously with limited oversight from manager
    • Coaching and reviewing the work of lower level professionals
    • Influencing others regarding policies, practices, and procedures
    • Managing small projects or processes
    • Managing the preparation and/or execution of Design Reviews as well as Integration, Dry Run, and Formal Qualification Testing
    • Reviewing minor and documenting moderate changes in systems or processes to solve difficult and sometimes complex problems
    • Defining and setting objectives for area of responsibility
    • Communicating with team members within and outside of department
    • Communicating with customers, vendors, or subcontractors
    • Working to influence within and outside of work area at an operational level regarding policies, practices, and procedures within the organization
    • Influencing decision-makers with recommended courses of action
    • Using advanced knowledge from an Advanced University Degree combined with Professional Experience
    • Analyzing and documenting system behaviors
    • Supporting system trade studies, requirements analysis, allocation to subsystems

Qualifications/Experience Needed:
    • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience
    • Proficient in tooling to include CAMEO, Rhapsody, Microsoft products, or tasking boards (Jira, IBM EWM, etc.)
    • Strong integration and test knowledge including test procedures, test execution, and test reporting
    • Experience in Virtual Machine design and deployment
    • Experience in Audio and Voice communication applications and systems
    • Must be able to obtain Top Secret Security Clearance within 1 year of start date

Security Clearance:
    • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required
    • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
    • Must have or be capable of obtaining a US Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance.  Candidate selected will be subject to a government security investigation/reinstatement and must meet eligibility requirements 

Preferred Qualifications:
    • Experience with Survivable Mobile Command Center architectures and operations
    • Ability to interact effectively with multidisciplinary teams of design professionals including electrical, mechanical, software, test, logistics and other System engineers.
    • Outstanding communication skills (written, verbal, and presentation) and ability to effectively communicate
    • Systems support to software application development
    • Systems support to hardware development
    • System or application integration
    • Experience in Computer Networking for ground based, ship, submarine, or airborne platforms
    • Experience in Communication Radio and Systems: SATCOM, LOS/BLOS, AEHF, or V/UHF 
    • Experience in Scripting
    • Must be able to obtain SCI Security Clearance within 1 year of start date
