Engineering Manager I - Instrumentation

Responsibilities:
- Leading a large team across a multiple work and test locations
- Supporting instrumentation team efforts from design to de-modification through requirements development, design, lab test, integration, and test operations support
- Coordinating with Test Engineering & Operations teams on instrumentation needs, schedule and facilities
- Act as a technical liaison to the Test Engineering Manager
Must-haves:
- Bachelor's of Science degree in a related discipline and typically 8 or more years of relevant technical experience
- Understanding of engineering principles and practices
- Experience with Computer Aided Engineering tools, analysis and simulation
- Ability to work in multi-disciplinary design and development teams
- Experience with extensive ground and flight test programs
- Experience with 14 CFR Part 25 testing
- Experience with Military Systems testing
- Experience independently executing functional responsibilities for small to medium sized programs
- Familiar with Ethernet, 1553, ARINC 429, and CAN bus protocol
Preferred:
- Typically 2-4 years of relevant leadership and/or project management experience
- Previous management experience; exposure to recruiting employees; assigning, directing, and evaluating their work; and overseeing the development and maintenance of staff competence
- Experience with identifying and coordinating resources to ensure the required tools, processes, and training are available/effective and programs are staffed and supported to achieve success
- Understanding of how to prepare project schedules, budgets, bids, and estimates for proposed program work packages
- Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry, the US Department of Defense or US Military
- Ability to motivate/work with others
- Prior exposure to working successfully in a highly collaborative, fast-paced environment emphasizing rapid prototyping and fielding of capabilities, with minimal supervision
- Proficiency with Microsoft Project
- Previous leadership experience: exposure to recruiting employees including assigning, directing and evaluating their work and overseeing the development and maintenance of staff competence
- Ability to independently execute functional responsibilities for large programs
- Large transport category jet or turboprop aircraft test experience
- Experience with designing and utilizing complex instrumentation data acquisition packag
