Job Summary
Dominion Energy - Power Generation is actively seeking candidates to fill a Generation Project Manager position to support Contracted Assets and Combustion Turbines. This position supports the project management team managing capital projects from conception through closure. Candidates must be highly motivated, be able work with minimum supervision, and have effective communication skills. Candidates must be able to qualify for work in the field including confined space, climbing stairs and ladders, wearing a respirator, etc.
The Generation Project Manager position will be based at Dominion Energy, 600 Canal Place, in Richmond, VA. The project profile for Contracted Assets and Combustion Turbines is typically includes 20-45 active projects each year in varying stages of design through closure. This position will support project work at the following locations: Altavista, Gordonsville, Hopewell, Rosemary, Southampton, Chesapeake, Possum Point, Darbytown, Elizabeth River, and Gravel Neck.
- Manages multiple major projects generally between $500K - $50M, (new construction, Greenfield Construction, Major Capital improvement projects)
- Oversees site safety, environmental, and construction requirements in accordance with Dominion Energy policy and local/state regulations
- Ensures all elements of the Contractor Safety Program are met and monitors safety on his/her projects
- Ensures appropriate permits are obtained; ensures contractor compliance with site environmental guidelines and obtains advance approval from the site Environmental Compliance Coordinator for materials and chemicals (i.e., concrete, oil, cleaner, lubricant, etc.) prior to allowing material on site
- Responsible for development and management of the station's 8-year capital project plan, to include development of business cases, project request form creation, and estimates
- Accountable for project success, customer satisfaction, and technical project execution and delivery
- Manages project risk through collaboration with the project team and customer
- Oversees scoping, planning, estimating, scheduling, resource planning, and procurement activities for all station projects, including integration with non-project work during major outages
- Ensures all required construction permits are utilized including but not limited to: Digging/Drilling/Cutting (DDC); Welding/Flame; Confined Space; Rigging/Lifting
- Coordinates engineering resources by working proactively with Power Generation Engineering and contract external engineering, as necessary to complete projects in a technically responsible fashion
- Ensures that a comprehensive, current scope of work and division of responsibility is maintained to include all vendor and Dominion scopes
- Supports the development, implementation, and management of contracts with suppliers and contractors to support material procurement and resources for project development and implementation
- Maintains project electronic files
- Responsible for coordination and communication of commissioning activities, engineering processes, and troubleshooting in the field
- Ensures turnover documentation, drawings, specifications, and training guides are provided to station management
- Leads development and management of specific portions of project budget and schedule.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
The knowledge, skills, abilities and experiences that are required for entry into this job include the following:
7+ years of industry experience in the field of construction, engineering, finance and/or management with a minimum of 3 years demonstrated experience in project management.
Note: A partial year of related work experience of 6 months or greater will be considered one year towards the qualifications. A Masters Degree can count as one year experience.
