About the Role We are currently looking for an analytical, collaborative and organized Director of Accounting to join Naturium, our dynamic, high-growth skincare company.
The Director, Accounting, Naturium is responsible for day-to-day financial reporting and the execution of month-end close. The role applies experience and knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports. They will apply their experience and knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports. They will also maintain the general ledger and review monthly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts. We will expect them to communicate financial results and key drivers of performance. Last, initiate processes and streamline existing processes for efficiency and to sustain future growth of enterprise.
This position will be remote or hybrid remote if located near our offices in West Hollywood, CA or Oakland, CA which are currently open in a hybrid model.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for oversight of the monthly and annual financial statement closing process and review preliminary results for variances, reasonability, etc- Prepare monthly financial reporting package and supplemental reports to be distributed to management and business partners. - Communicate key drivers of financial performance to the VP, Finance, Naturium- Maintain the general ledger. Review monthly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts prepared by Accounting Manager and Inventory - Accounting Manager. Ensure all balance sheet accounts are reconciled and accurate- Manage a team of accounting professionals to support the needs of the organization efficiently and effectively- Assist with establishing and maintaining corporate accounting policies, procedures and internal controls to ensure conformance with US GAAP and SOX laws/regulations- Ensure proper application of ASC 606 for D2C revenue and sales to retailers. Oversee review and documentation of nuances between customers and channels- Draft and/or review technical accounting memos and standard operating procedures to document appropriate application of GAAP and to support external audits- Review payment requests and submit batch payments for approval. Assist with treasury management and short-term cash forecasting- Review journal entries prepared by team members for appropriate coding and support.- Initiate processes and streamline existing processes for efficiency and to sustain future growth of enterprise- Monitor and maintain integrity of ERP system integrations that may impact financial reporting, including platforms that support 3PL services, D2C sales, bill payment services, and retailer EDI.- Establish and maintain fiscal files and records to document transactions- Contribute to external audits, which may include reviewing work-papers prepared by accountants/others, submitting requests and coordinating to ensure audit timelines are met, and escalating issues as they arise- Contribute to tax compliance initiatives and manage requests initiated by the tax team- Perform other related duties as necessary or assigned
Requirements:
- B.S./B.A. in Finance, Accounting or equivalent; MBA a plus.- 7+ years of experience in Consumer Products or Retail, with public accounting experience required.- CPA is a plus with 3+ years of audit experience from a global or national CPA firm- Experience in a consumer products company or retailer dealing with trade spending a plus- Inventory experience required- Excellent knowledge and application of US GAAP- Advanced k
