Summary / Role Purpose

The Supervisor, Accounting & Accounts Payable (AP) (m/f/d) manages a team of AP accountants to ensure that the appropriate transactions with vendors and employees are processed in a timely, accurate and compliant matter. Additionally, this role is responsible for the monthly AP-to-GL and FA-to-GL reconciliations as well as the proper period cut-off in terms of the US-GAAP period close. Furthermore, the Supervisor, Accounting & AP assists with respect to AP and Fixed Assets (FA) related subjects in terms of statutory accounting and in case of external audits.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Responsible for timely, accurate and compliant completion of accounting tasks by the team for AP
• Ensure that accounts payable controls are followed and assists with periodic audits.
• Ensure payments are made in a timely and accurate manner.
• Provide effective support in completion of the Bank reconciliations.
• Assist in the reconciling of the accounts payable subledger to general ledger.
• Handle Vendor and Employee expense report inquiries.
• Ensure the proper maintenance, filing and storage of records in case of audits.
• Train new staff as needed.
• Direct assigned tasks.
• Ensure a proper period cut-off: Review & reconciliation of Prepaid expenses and Accrued expenses.
• Ensure that Fixed Assets accounting is proper and accurate.
• Responsible for local entity US GAAP Reporting for AP/FA.
• Responsible for managing the timely and accurate completion of accounting for other smaller entities (in the responsibility region) as per US GAAP Reporting.
• Assist in the VAT reporting of the entities within the region.
• Assist in the preparation of the annual capital and operating expense budgets.
• Maintain statutorily required Accounts & documentation for AP/FA.
• Support and participate in external audits.
• Support Corporate projects.

 

Minimum Education/Certification Requirements and Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree, Professional Training IHK (kaufmönnische Ausbildung IHK) or equivalent
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in a similar accounting role
• Must have strong organization skills and demonstrate an attention to detail
• Must have experience with accounting systems and processes including major Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)

 

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

• CPA or comparable professional accounting certification.
• Experience with Oracle EBS
