The Cabinet Designer/Drafter specializes in creating high-quality custom cabinet designs for residential projects, overseeing the entire process from planning to execution. This role involves developing designs that meet both time and budget requirements, while also ensuring that the creative concepts are manufacturable. Acting as a liaison between sales and production, the Designer/Drafter ensures that custom, non-cataloged products are both available and manufacturable. Additionally, the Designer/Drafter offers suggestions for design improvements, considering factors such as practicality, cost, and component technology.

As a Cabinet Designer/Drafter you will be responsible for :
- Designing and drafting custom cabinetry projects.
- Support Tharp’s Design + Sales team as they interface directly with trade professionals, their clients, and residential homeowners to design, quote, and draft Cabinet projects.
- Have knowledge of building codes, appliances, and mechanical systems. Cabinet designers write specifications and draw plans that are easily interpreted by plumbers, electricians, and installers.
- Analyze and interpret construction blueprints and specifications.
- Develop plans and models for production while ensuring optimal use of materials, construction methodology, manufacturing and installation.
- Develop job orders of engineered cabinet components.
- Create detailed shop drawings, diagrams, and instructions to complete work order.
- Communicate with Purchasing to make sure all materials are on hand that are necessary for the project.
- Partner with production departments to determine best practice for completion of a project.
- Provide production support and troubleshoot any issues on the production floor.
- Analyze, develop, and improve engineering processes through waste reduction, error proofing design, standardization, etc.
- Complete field measure modifications.
- File creation and management as it pertains to job creation.
- Assist team members and new employees with questions.
- Be actively involved in Tharp’s continuous improvement by helping with process changes.
- Learn the ins and outs of Tharp and the cabinetry business by assisting customers at the front desk and on the phone.
- Other duties may be assigned.

- Proficient computer skills including MSOffice, Outlook, Cabinet Vision.
- Ability to learn and use proprietary Custom Software solutions.
