Job Description
As a Security Officer - Data Center Rover Driver in Chesapeake, VA, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Tech/Media/Telecom, and more. As an Unarmed Patrol Officer with Allied Universal at a dynamic tech, media, and telecom location, you will conduct routine patrols, stay highly visible, and document and report security-related activity while delivering strong customer service. This is a driving post requiring a valid driver’s license under AU Driver Policy Requirements, supporting mobile patrols, access control checks, and rapid response to calls for assistance through teamwork, integrity, and a people-first approach.

What You'll Do:
- Provide customer service to clients and site visitors by following Allied Universal protocols, site-specific post orders, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
- Conduct regular and random foot and/or vehicle patrols throughout office, studio, and technology-focused areas, including lobbies, corridors, workspaces, loading areas, parking areas, and perimeter lines as assigned.
- Help to deter unwanted activity by maintaining a visible presence, monitoring for unusual conditions, and reporting concerns per site procedures.
- Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including medical situations, fire alarms, access issues, and disturbances, and notify appropriate internal contacts and/or public responders as directed.
- Monitor access points and manage entry and exit using approved identification and badging processes, visitor logs, and key control procedures as required by the location.
- Perform routine checks of doors, gates, and critical areas during patrols, documenting irregularities and submitting maintenance and/or work order requests through approved channels.
- Use security-related systems such as CCTV, access control, and alarm monitoring tools to observe activity, identify concerns, and communicate updates to site leadership and/or Allied Universal supervision.
- Complete detailed written and/or electronic reports for patrol activity, incidents, and shift turnover, maintaining clear documentation for operational follow-up.
- Communicate professionally with employees, contractors, delivery drivers, and guests to provide directions, respond to questions, and support a positive workplace experience.
- Support special events, high-traffic periods, and operational changes by adjusting patrol patterns, staffing coordination, and reporting as directed by site leadership and/or Allied Universal supervision.
Minimum Requirements:
- A valid driver’s license is required in accordance with Allied Universal driver policy requirements.
- A guard card and/or license is preferred.
- Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
- Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
- As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
- Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
- A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
