About the role

Our Equity Capital Markets (ECM) team is seeking an Investment Banking Associate, for it's Special Equities Group, to join our New York City office.

Investment Banking Associates are an integral part of the Investment Banking team. They are directly involved in the design, origination, structuring and execution of investment banking products and services for existing and prospective clients. Associates participate in client meetings, due diligence visits and other client interactions during which they gain exposure to key executives and senior bankers. The Associate provides these services as part of a team consisting of Analysts, Vice Presidents, Executive Directors, and Managing Directors.

SEG seeks a motivated individual to support its expanding business model. The role will provide valuable exposure to new business origination, equity trading, derivatives structuring, and legal/regulatory issues.

Responsibilities will include supporting the origination and trading teams with respect to all of SEG’s product offerings:

  • Structuring and proposing client-specific execution strategies
  • Working directly with traders to manage Rule 10b5-1 plan execution
  • Identifying market trends and providing relevant analysis
  • Creating and refining client presentation materials
  • Maintaining a proprietary database of market and client activity
  • Managing the regulatory elements and clearance/settlement of Rule 144 sales


Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years of Investment Banking Program experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education


Desired Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of Equity Capital Markets/Special Equities experience
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work effectively, as well as independently, in a team environment
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced deadline driven environment
  • Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Willingness to work long hours in a demanding, highly focused collaborative and fast paced team environment with a sense of personal accountability and urgency for achieving results

Job Expectations

  • Registration for FINRA exams including Securities Industry Essentials (SIE), Series 7, 63 and Series 57 must be completed within 90 days of hire date, if they are not available for transfer upon hire. FINRA recognized equivalents will be accepted
  • Obtaining and/or maintaining appropriate Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) license(s) is required for ongoing employment in this position.  In addition state registration, specific product licenses or SAFE licensing may apply. Additional requirements include meeting enhanced financial fitness and criminal background standards.  Wells Fargo will initiate the FINRA review process at the time of offer acceptance.

Additional Compensation Details:

  • Base pay range for this position is $175,000-$200,000
  • May be considered for an annual discretionary bonus
