OVERVIEW
As a Catering Cook, you will be responsible for preparing high-quality meals for catering events, ensuring that kitchen operations run smoothly, and maintaining a clean, organized kitchen environment in compliance with health and safety codes.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

- Prepare and cook meals for catering events and guest consumption, following recipes and menu specifications
- Manage food inventory, ordering and procuring supplies as needed
- Operate kitchen equipment such as ovens, grills, fryers, and steam kettles, adjusting thermostat controls for optimal cooking temperatures
- Accurately measure and mix ingredients using various kitchen utensils and equipment (blenders, mixers, grinders, etc.)
- Set up and stock catering stations with necessary supplies
- Work closely with other kitchen staff to ensure food is prepared in a timely manner and at the highest quality
- Clean work stations and dispose of waste, ensuring compliance with sanitation standards
- Store food items correctly, labeling and dating as needed to ensure freshness and safety
- Maintain accurate temperature logs and follow food safety guidelines
- Ensure that food is ready to serve at the correct temperature and within a reasonable timeframe
- Respond to guest and event requests in a friendly and efficient manner
- Maintain a positive attitude and professional image at all times
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including safety and sanitation standards
- Follow all local, state, and federal laws regarding health and safety, including OSHA, EEOC, and wage and hour lawsOther duties as assigned by supervisor or management
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES
- Strong knowledge of food preparation and cooking techniques, especially in a catering environment
- Ability to read and follow recipes
- Proficient in using kitchen equipment and utensils
- Basic math skills to measure and calculate ingredients
- Ability to work quickly and efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work well in a team setting
- Must be able to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
- Ability to maintain professionalism and composure in high-pressure situations
EDUCATION
High School Graduate or GED preferred.
EXPERIENCE
Previous kitchen line experience preferred.
LICENSES OR CERTIFICATES
Food Handlers Card Required. Any requirements unique to local and state regulations required. Brand standards and/or additional training required.
ENVIRONMENT and PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Most work will be performed indoors in moderate temperatures, controlled by hotel environmental systems. However, employee may be exposed to high temperature work areas including kitchen grills, fryers, stove tops and ovens. Protective equipment provided. Employee may be subjected to hot grease and cold temperatures in walk-in freezers and refrigerators.
