Pharmacy Intern - PRN

Inova System Office Administration Pharmacy is seeking a Pharmacy Intern - PRN to join the team. 

The Pharmacy Intern is a member of the inpatient pharmacy team who contributes to patient care by participating in all aspects of medication preparation and distribution, inventory procurement and maintenance, quality improvement initiatives, and patient interactions such as medication histories and counseling. While conducting regular duties, the Pharmacy Intern develops the operational and clinical skills necessary to one day practice as a successful health system pharmacist.

This is a PRN position.

Job Responsibilities:

Under the Pharmacist supervision:

• Performs all aspects of medication distribution.
• Manages medication inventory.
• Maintains Automated Dispensing Machine.
• Performs monthly pharmacy inspections per policies/procedures.
• Participates in patient care.
• Participates in department quality improvements projects.
• Develops skills and knowledge base necessary to practice as a pharmacist.

Qualifications:

 Licensure:

• State of Virginia Pharmacy Technician license or a Pharmacy Intern license.

Education:

• High School or GED and enrolled in Pharmacy School.

Certification:

• Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association with 3 months of hire.
