Cloud Engineer- Database Support

TechOp is seeking an experienced Lead Database Engineer- Cloud Transition supporting U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). The position is primarily responsible for planning, developing, and implementing database migrations to cloud infrastructure. Post migration, the candidate will be responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, and recovery of mission critical enterprise Databases hosted on the Cloud. The successful candidate will also be responsible for analyzing operational requirements affecting mission critical systems supporting the CBP. 

Responsibilities:  

•  Administer and Support existing Databases and the migration of these applications and services into a new cloud environment.  
• Resolves complex problems, creates and improves procedures, and facilitates communication. 
• Ability to Lead, Collaborate, and Support the Core Infrastructure Team as a Database Engineering Subject Matter Expert. 

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field and ten (10) years of direct experience. 
• Significant experience in Cloud Technologies (specifically AWS) and infrastructure. 
• Familiarity with SAFe Agile. 

Skills: 

• Cloud application (AWS/Azure) architecture. 
• AWS Cloud Formation. 
• Large-scale system integration to include technical expertise.
• Scripting to automate developer or operations functions. 
• Experience in developing enterprise and solution-level architectural designs. 
• JIRA, Confluence, and other project management tools. 
• Experience with Linux/Unix systems administration. 
• Environment and Server layout and configuration maintenance to Industry standards and best practices 
• Remediate app/package installations. 
• Rapid prototyping to refine system requirements and technical specifications of the system and its operating environments. 
• Knowledge of infrastructure as code design, management, and version control techniques. 
• Exposure to project management skills and/or project-based work structures, project lifecycle models, etc. 
• Knowledge of system and software quality assurance best practices and methodologies. 
• Strong communication and documentation skills. 
• Development of technical documentation and briefing materials to support program status reviews, control gates, and other presentations as directed by program management. 

Preferred Qualifications 

• • AWS / Azure certifications 
• • Experience working with large scale data technologies (e.g. AWS Aurora, Hadoop, Elasticsearch, etc.)
