Staff Software Engineer

LinQuest is seeking a C++ software engineer/developer to join our team in Albuquerque, NM.  In this role, you will help translate customer/project requirements into technical requirements for the program.  US Citizenship with current Secret clearance and the ability to obtain TS/SCI is required.

As a software engineer, you will work in collaborative small team environments to conduct research, develop models and scenarios, and perform analysis on a variety of current and future military systems. This work will drive the development and refinement of existing program system requirements and influence the pursuit of future technologies and capabilities. You will work with systems and software engineers, as well as with program and customer leadership, to recommend candidate designs, and to develop Concepts of Operation (CONOPs) and Tactics, Techniques and Procedures (TTPs) at the system, mission, and campaign levels.

Candidates will develop and integrate system models within the Advanced Framework for Simulation, Integration, and Modeling (AFSIM), developed and maintained by the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL). Responsibilities will include:

• Support modeling and simulation (M&S) development efforts for a variety of complex systems
• Support modeling and simulation analyses for military systems
• Engage in collaborative efforts for concept design and evaluation
• Solve complex problems
• Translate customer/project requirements into technical requirements
• Demonstrate a mastery of the technical skillset in primary work area
• Meet regularly with customer, provide oral and written status on tasks

 

Required Skills and Experience: 

• Bachelor's Degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math), Computer Engineering, Computer Science or other related degree
• 2+ years of programming experience with C++, Python, and/or Matlab
• Broad range of experience in system architecting, modeling, simulation, analysis, developing concepts, early systems engineering, and/or soliciting concepts from industry and stakeholders
• Experience working with a team for collaborative software development
• Experience with Agile software practices and usage of issue trackers like Jira and Gitlab
• Experience using source control and CI/CD tools such as Git, Bitbucket, or Gitlab
• Ability to use creativity, foresight, and mature judgment in anticipating and solving problems; apply competency in evolving, complicated situations.
• Ability to effectively collaborate among the engineering team and management to achieve common project goals
• Ability to take technical findings/data to generate analysis required to support informed decisions
• Knowledge of other software programming frameworks and databases and the ability to apply that knowledge to the software domain
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing to support acquisition documentation
• US Citizenship with current Secret clearance and the ability to obtain TS/SCI is required
