Job Summary:
The Division of Medical Oncology is seeking a full-time (1.0 FTE) benefits-eligible Research and Grants Specialist who will work under the Finance and Accounting Principal Professional to maintain day-to-day financial operations in the Division, including grant post-award monitoring and other financial duties. In this role, employees will have the opportunity to learn how to analyze University, research, and clinical data to help inform faculty and leadership decisions and ensure efficient and accurate decision-making. This position will work closely with the Division Administrator, PIs, and key administrative staff within the divisions to ensure accurate grant and clinical trial contracting. This position will also interact with and collaborate closely with the Office of Grants and Contracts (OGC) and external sponsors on billing and financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintains and updates monthly financial reports for all PI’s that have research funding as well as reports for leadership in the Division.
Ensures that the award setup accurately reflects the terms and conditions of the award as well as anticipated spending; requests appropriate rebudgeting from OGC and/or the sponsor when required.
Prepares documentation for OGC to draft subcontracts; monitors contract execution, account set-up, invoicing, and compliance.
Reviews all expenditures to ensure that division researchers adhere to institutional policies and procedures, as well as to all applicable federal, state, and sponsor rules and regulations.
Completes Journal Entries and Payroll Expense transfers as needed on grant accounts.
Works with Pre-Award Coordinator to process progress reports, including working with Principal Investigators to prepare and submit progress reports (RPPRs) as required by project sponsors.
Work Location:
Hybrid – this role is eligible for a hybrid schedule of two to three (2-3) days per week on campus and as needed for in-person meetings.
