Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Reconstruction Estimator with a strong background in insurance claims and Xactimate estimating. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience working with insurance adjusters (or previously worked as one), understands reconstruction scope development, and can confidently defend estimates through supplements and negotiations.
This role plays a critical part in ensuring reconstruction projects are properly scoped, approved, and profitable.

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Reconstruction Estimator with a strong background in insurance claims and Xactimate estimating. This role plays a critical part in ensuring reconstruction projects are properly scoped, approved, and profitable.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate reconstruction estimates using Xactimate for residential and commercial losses
- Assess property damage and determine appropriate reconstruction scopes and repair strategies
- Review insurance estimates, identify scope gaps, and prepare supplements and Differences in Opinion (DIOs)
- Communicate and negotiate effectively with insurance adjusters, desk reviewers, and carriers
- Collaborate closely with project managers, mitigation teams, and field crews to ensure scope alignment
- Ensure all estimates comply with industry standards, local building codes, and company guidelines
- Provide estimating support throughout the reconstruction lifecycle, from initial scope to final invoicing
- Maintain detailed documentation including photos, notes, and supporting justification
- Build and maintain professional relationships with insurance professionals and referral partners
- Stay current on Xactimate updates, pricing changes, and insurance best practices
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of Xactimate reconstruction estimating experience
- At least 2 years of experience as a Property Insurance Adjuster or equivalent carrier-side experience
- Strong understanding of:
- Drywall, painting, flooring, framing, and finish trades
- Insurance claim workflows and carrier requirements
- Proven ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines simultaneously
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Detail-oriented with strong documentation and organizational skills
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Nice-to-Have (but not required)
- Experience preparing mitigation estimates (water, fire, mold) in Xactimate
- Construction or restoration project management experience
- Established relationships or network within the insurance industry
- Demonstrated ability to help generate new reconstruction opportunities through industry connections
Compensation & Benefits
- Rate: $70,000 – $80,000 per year

Work Schedule & Environment
- Full-time, primarily field-based (“on the road”)
- Monday to Friday, with flexibility for:
- Overtime
- Weekends
- On-call assignments as needed
- Mix of office work, site inspections, and outdoor fieldwork
- Willingness to travel up to 100% within service area
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
- Construction estimating: 2+ years
- Restoration / reconstruct
