Job Description
AECOM is seeking a Project Architect for our Rail/Transit Team in our Los Angeles office for significant transportation projects in the Greater Los Angeles area.
JOB INFORMATION:
While the position is primarily for East San Fernando Valley Light Rail Transit Project, AECOM has an impressive backlog of significant transportation projects in the Greater Los Angeles area and transit/rail projects across West Region and provides exceptional opportunity for professional growth. This position accommodates a hybrid working scenario allowing for a balance between in-office presence for collaboration sessions as well as work from home on a weekly basis.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide technical design and documentation on the project
- Be responsible for the development of technical plans, and specifications for the architectural elements,
- Coordinate design development with all disciplines to ensure an integrated set of deliverables
- Provide construction administration duties.
- Participate in design, production, coordination, and architectural detailing as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Participate and assist in coordination of engineering systems with engineers and consultants; actively partner with architectural leadership team to carry through design intent; and coordinate with all other team members on project assignments and documents.
- Maintain the technical quality of the projects by enforcing the application of Quality Control (QC) process standards and requirements while ensuring that all statutory requirements for the project are achieved.
- Develop and maintain positive client relations throughout the life of the project.
- Communicate project status, design intent, construction updates, and other critical information in a clear way to architectural leadership team and subconsultant team.
- Perform field site visits to verify and document existing conditions.
- Participate in construction administration efforts including reviewing and responding to RFIs and submittals, attending Owner-Architect-Contractor (OAC) meetings and providing site observations.
Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- BA/BS + 8 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- BA/BS in Architecture
- Registered Architect/ NCARB certification
- LEED or WELL certification
- 8+ years of relevant experience with an understanding of workplace projects, standards, and practices.
- 5+ years of design experience within Transit projects and working with construction documents and construction administration.
- Strong conceptual and technical design skills
- Strong communication, organizational and leadership skills
- Proficiency with BIM/Revit Modeling, AutoCAD and MS Office Suite is required. Must be able to work with REVIT for plan preparation.
- Ability to work both independently and effectively in a cross-disciplinary team atmosphere and across multiple offices in a dynamic multi-disciplinary in-house consultant team.
- Thorough knowledge of building systems and construction detailing
- Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills with strong presentation skills
- Strong creativity in design
- Knowledge of building construction and Los Angeles Municipal Corporation (LAMC) Building Code
- Ability to prioritize and multi-task work on multiple simultaneous design elements in a fast-paced work environment.
