Job DetailsJob Location: Texas Institute for Surgery LL SURG - Dallas, TX 75231Position Type: Full TimeEducation Level: High SchoolJob Shift: DayJob Category: Health CareThe Patient Care Technician (PCT) supports nursing staff by delivering high-quality, compassionate care to patients across Inpatient, PACU, and Float Pool units. Responsibilities include assisting with patient mobility, vital signs, and maintaining a clean and safe environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Assist with the flow of patients from the waiting area to exam rooms across various departments.
2. Transport patients using wheelchairs or walkers as needed and assist with personal medical needs.
3. Recognize, report, and respond appropriately to actual or potential emergency situations.
4. Assist patients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, eating, toileting, transferring, repositioning, and mobility.
5. Collect and label specimen, such as blood and urine, for laboratory testing under proper supervision.
6. Assist with electrocardiograms (EKGs) as directed by clinical staff.
7. Obtain and accurately document vital signs.
8. Restock exam rooms, fold laundry, perform basic housekeeping tasks, and complete daily checks of sharps containers, gloves, tissues, and linen disposal.
9. Communicate professionally and effectively with patients, families, and team members.
10. Offer emotional support and clear communication to patients and families to promote comfort and trust.
11. Chart in CPSI and record patient supply usage on billing sheets.
12. Provide support across different departments as needed.
13. Perform other duties or projects as assigned.
Qualifications
Education & Training:
High School diploma or equivalent required
Post-secondary training in healthcare preferred
Experience:
Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in a hospital or clinical support role required
Licensure/Certification/Registration:
Certification as a Nurse Aide (CNA) with an active listing on the Texas Nurse Aide Registry, - or - certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA or RMA), is required.
BLS required
