About the role

We are looking for an Aboriginal person to join Aboriginal Heritage Tasmania (AHT) as a Project Support Officer.

In this role you will provide policy, project management and administrative support to AHT to help achieve the goals of the Branch. You will work closely with the Cultural Management Group and Operations teams to deliver projects and programs and you will provide administrative services to the Aboriginal Heritage Council.

You will help protect and promote Tasmanian Aboriginal cultural heritage by:

  • Undertaking planning, coordination and administration work to help programs and initiatives run smoothly.
  • Preparing written materials such as reports, guidelines and discussion papers.
  • Providing a range of administrative support to committees and project teams, including organising meetings and keeping records.
  • Building strong connections with Tasmanian Aboriginal people, government agencies and other stakeholders to ensure culturally respectful and successful project outcomes.

This role is a fixed term opportunity until 30 June 2028. The role is full-time (36.75 hours per week) but there is the option to negotiate part-time hours (a minimum of 29.40 hours per week).

What we're looking for

We are seeking someone who has:

  • Knowledge and understanding of Tasmanian Aboriginal cultural heritage.
  • Strong communication skills and the capacity to work well with others.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Administrative and/or project management experience, or the ability to quickly learn.

Desirable Requirements

You don’t need these to apply, but they would be beneficial:

  • A qualification in a relevant field such as Project Management.
  • A current motor vehicle driver’s licence.
