Requirements
About the role
The Finance Systems Engineer will work closely with the Finance stakeholders to understand the key priorities and drive needed changes. The systems engineer will be responsible for completing requirements gathering, technical design, configuration, development, deployment, and integration to solve complex planning, performance management and reporting challenges. The systems engineer will need to have a strong command of the Finance business processes, as well as experience with ERP and other financial systems. A critical component of this role will be the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions. In addition, this role will be responsible for administering and maintaining the key Finance applications, and supporting the Finance community during key periods, such as monthly and quarterly closes.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the design, development, and implementation of Finance solutions to address key business problems leveraging current application suite (Workday Financials, Adaptive, middleware solutions)
- Works closely with internal and external teams on defining and building new solutions
- Ensures that the technical solutions meet the customers’ business goals and align with key mandates, such as SOX compliance
- Partners with business to support and maintain key Finance applications
- Responsible for overall maintenance of key Finance applications, including upgrades and other critical support needs
- Demonstrates superb attention to detail when resolving key system problems by resolving in a timely manner and providing follow-up on all issues and solutions to key constituents
- Provides consultation and technical leadership in project planning; partnering closely with the PMO and product owner
- Ensures consistency and adherence to IT best practices throughout the application lifecycle
- Provides feedback to the Finance stakeholders regarding future solution needs
- Demonstrates exceptional knowledge of Financial ERP architecture and other related key financial systems
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Analytics, or closely related field
- 5+ years of work experience in developing end-to-end finance solutions, including system configuration, development, data security, and reporting
- Demonstrated experience working with users in a support and development capacity
- Quick learner with a positive attitude, professional demeanor, and strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
- Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills, and an ability to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams
- Experience developing hybrid business solutions that are flexible, scalable and leverage wide range of technologies
- Knowledge of software development cycle, version control, data structures, complexity analysis, unit test and integration tests
- Experience supporting Finance applications governed by SOX compliance
- Experience providing risk assessment for new functionality and enhancements, and identifying process improvement opportunities to drive innovation
- Relevant corporate finance experience exhibiting knowledge of financial planning functions and related processes
