Job Description
This position is for a Systems Engineering Technical Lead for Active Protection Systems (APS) in the Ground Combat Systems portfolio at Elbit Systems of America. This person will lead our engineering teams to capture and execute APS contracts with the US Department of Defense, integrating existing solutions from our Affiliate companies with US-unique capabilities developed in-house.
This position will be based in Ft. Worth, TX, with the Detroit, MI area being an alternate option.
Reports directly to the Engineering Director of Ground Combat Systems, in the Integrated Solutions division.
25%-30% travel is expected for this role.
Responsibilities
- Act as the technical leader for all APS capture efforts, proposals and contracts
- Manage the engineering cost and schedule goals of these projects
- Review, develop, and document system level requirements, CONOPS, and mission statements
- Work with all Technical functions to develop and document product roadmaps and plans that meet technical, cost and schedule goals.
- Perform requirements management, system modeling, analysis, and allocations on complex systems design.
- Produce and/or review technical documents, specifications and standards
- Lead the creation of a classified Systems Integration Lab (SIL) for integrating and testing APS products
- Lead system integration efforts including hands-on integration of APS systems
- Plan verification and validation activities for complex system designs to ensure conformance with functional specifications and customer requirements
- Prepare and/or deliver technical presentations to customers, Elbit America Management or development teams
- Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with customers and other divisions of Elbit Systems
- Lead proposal development activities, including proposal text development, cost estimating, and presentation activities
- Other related duties assigned by supervisor.

- Develop broad, cross-functional technical knowledge and represent Elbit America as a subject matter expert
- Provide coaching, mentorship and technical leadership to the Engineering team
- Effectively record and communicate designs, results, reports, and presentations
- Research, conceptualize, and evaluate complex system architectures and product designs, recommend design modifications to improve product performance, cost, reliability, and development schedule
- Work independently and with internal/external organizations
- Fully understand internal systems engineering procedures and systems engineering best practices
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field with 14+ years of related experience.
- Systems Engineering product development experience
- Experience with MBSE and Agile Development
- Experience working in a classified environment
- Must be a “US Person” and have ability to obtain security clearance. Existing clearance is an advantage.

- Experience in the development, integration and fielding of defense articles, ideally real-time, safety-critical weapon systems
- Experience supporting live-fire or other field testing
- Experience integrating technology on combat vehicles, with either the US Army or Marine Corps
- Experience with US DoD safety certification processes
