Quality Assurance Examiner (BT-24173)

The Quality Assurance Examiner will support the Safety and Missions Assurance Support (SMAS) contract supporting NASA at Michoud Assembly Facility.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Independently evaluate, select, and apply standard SMA engineering and assurance techniques, procedures, and criteria. Areas to be worked may include, but are not limited to NASA MAF Testing, High Pressure Gas, High Pressure Water, Cryogenic, and Component Processing / Testing Facilities.
• Provide contractor surveillance of contractor's quality system procedures, technical products, and manufacturing work instructions to ensure compliance with NASA requirements.
• Perform quality inspections and periodic surveillance on processes and documentation for compliance with NASA Policy, MSFC Directives, and Work Instructions and implement corrective action request.
• Responsible for the surveillance of assigned Quality Assurance (QA) activities to determine compliance with applicable requirements and specifications; conducts audit and reviews/analyze data and documentation.
• Provide support to Pressure Systems Manager in assuring compliance with NASA, ASME, and other national consensus standards for pressure systems and vessels. This includes interaction with a variety of low- and high-pressure gas and liquid systems (e.g., Nitrogen, High Purity Air, Hydrogen, Oxygen, Helium etc.) along with cryogenic liquid systems.
• Perform pressure systems and vessel component level verifications, in addition to NDE inspections. Candidate will prepare written reports of examination results.
• Maintain current, company and customer training and certifications. Specifically, SMA STEP 1 and NDE Level II certifications.
• Work as part of an integrated team with Bastion Technologies and NASA SMA personnel to resolve surveillance and examination result questions and communicate technical issues to project engineers to ensure compliance.

REQUIRED:

• This position requires US Citizenship due to the sensitivity of customer related information.
• Must have 5+ years of recent and related work experience.
• Candidate must be able to meet the minimum recommended requirements per SNT-TC-1A in a minimum of 3 of the following methods:
  • Visual Testing (VT) Level II
  • Magnetic Partial (MT) Level II
  • Penetrant Testing (PT) Level II
  • Ultrasonic Testing (UT) Level II
  • Radiography Testing (RT) Level II (Digital RT experience is desirable)
• Possess the ability to read complex blueprints, technical charts, and specification sheets.
• Must be knowledgeable in AS9100 and ISO 9001 Quality System Requirements.

DESIRED:

• The ideal candidate will have a familiarity with NASA Quality Systems and procedures.
• Knowledge of MAF manufacturing and/or aerospace related experience.

• Preferred candidate will have Certified Weld Inspector (CWI), and additional NDE Certs are beneficial.
• Experience with pressure vessel or piping systems inspection.
• Experience reading Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID)
• Experience in creating written reports for inspections/S&MA surveillance assignments.
• Candidate should be comfortable with adapting to changing environments (work assignments, customers) quickly in support of the mission.

WORK LOCATION:

• This position is located onsite.
• This position may require some travel.
