As the Senior Metrology Supervisor, you will serve as the calibration focal for the Electric Power Systems Business Unit at our facility in Rockford, Illinois. You will be responsible for the application of measurement science methodology principles, performance monitoring, and analyses of data while creating, revising, and releasing calibration procedures that certify that the calibrated test measurement equipment meets requirements. This position involves supervising and performing calibration, maintenance, and minor repair of measurement and testing equipment, ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards, and the training of staff.
What You Will Do
Serve as calibration focal for Rockford site leading the development of technicians’ knowledge base through cross training and mentor recommendations.
Manage day to day calibration issues and resolve problems to support production.
Manage equipment pool to support production and engineering initiatives.
Maintain compliance to, and update as needed, established procedures and policies.
Manage external calibration suppliers.
Promote continuous improvement of calibration processes.
Coordinates project planning and communicates cross functionally to ensure continuation of operations.
Qualifications You Must Have:
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience.
U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
Qualifications We Prefer:
Working Metrology/Testing/Calibration Laboratory experience.
Experience in calibration testing and maintenance of instruments and monitoring test equipment.
Working experience with a wide range of electronic test equipment, including oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators, torque/pressure/force sensors, flow meters, and data acquisition systems
Working experience with quality standards and practices such as ANSI/NCSL Z540, NIST guidelines, AS9100, ISO 9000, ISO 17025, and/or Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
Experience in using continuous improvement/lean tools to make process improvements in a manufacturing environment.
Certified Calibration Technician (CCT) or similar certification.
