Strategic Fiber Planner

About the role
<p><strong>Overall Purpose:</strong></p>
<p>The Strategic Fiber Planner will be part of the OSP (Outside Plant) Fiber Planning Team responsible for Planning, Building, Testing, and Maintenance across Arelion’s extensive Optical Fiber Network. This role involves collaborating closely with various departments to form a strategic landscape and support business cases around OSP Asset Expansions.</p>
<p><strong>Main Responsibilities:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Align fiber product offerings with market demands and strategic goals.</li>
<li>Implement a Fiber Asset Life Cycle Management system from planning to decommissioning and use tools to track status and performance.</li>
<li>Assist Procurement with Fiber Quality, Specifications for Pre-Sites works, Fiber Standards, SLA’s, and routes, and manage supplier relationships.</li>
<li>Standardize the Fiber Sales Process from a Plan & Build Perspective, implementing checklists to filter out simple deals and identify advanced projects.</li>
<li>Improve and automate fiber infrastructure inventory management, including defining and implementing fiber data structures across systems. Use workflow engines to automate repetitive tasks and manage processes efficiently.</li>
<li>Attend Customer Meetings related to Technical Fiber Concerns.</li>
<li>Review Sites, Demarcations Points, building entry, cabling/MMR concepts, and OSP Fiber requirements with procurement and Infrastructure.</li>
<li>Check Internal guidelines and standards on Fiber Backbone and validate expected fiber values with fiber providers/procurement.</li>
<li>Support NOC/Service Managers and review fault procedures and lessons learned.</li>
<li>Perform End-to-End Planning, create and update internal registration systems, and internal orders.</li>
<li>Supervise and coordinate testing, analyze test results (OTDR, ILM, CD, PMD), document Test Results, and maintain archives.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Geographical Responsibility:</strong></p>
<p>North America and Europe.</p>
<p><strong>Working Relationships:</strong></p>
<p>Sales, Customers, Products, Network Development, Procurement, DWDM Planning/Implementation, Infrastructure, Service providers, Construction companies.</p>

<p>This role mandates successfully undergoing a security vetting process in accordance with prevailing security protection regulations. Positions demanding security clearance may entail additional citizenship-related requirements.</p> <p><strong>Qualifications / Experience Required:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>5+ years of experience in telecommunications, focusing on fiber optic cable Plan, Build & Operate functions.</li>
<li>Detailed understanding of fiber planning and civil planning requirements.</li>
<li>Experience interfacing with vendors/suppliers.</li>
<li>Ability to accurately document work and maintain high level of standards.</li>
<li>Collaborate with Network Planning to optimize network, understand diversity and network routing requirements.</li>
<li>Proven experience in defining and driving strategy plans.</li>
<li>Strong analytical skills to assess and interpret complex data, identify trends, and make informed decisions.</li>
<li>Database and reporting experience with Snowflake, SQL, Qlik Sense, and Power BI is an advantage.</li>
