Primary Purpose of Position
To support the entire Grandview Catering & Events team by consistently and accurately preparing equipment and other necessary items for all catered events.

Seeking a Catering Porter to support the entire Grandview Catering & Events team by consistently and accurately preparing for all catered events.
Responsibilities include:
Responsibilities include:
- Using event sheets and checklists, pack all necessary equipment and items for individual events each day
- Clearly organize and label items as needed
- Maintain a clean and organized space in the kitchen, serveries, and storage areas
- Recreate food labels and rearrange as necessary
- Assist with receiving and unpacking deliveries
- Relocate excess product to storage spaces and keep updated inventory for each location
- Pack and unpack catering vehicles by loading them with non-food items once all preparation has been completed, and before the service teams arrive for their shifts
- Assist with unloading after events and subsequent clean-up
- Drive staff, equipment, and/or food items to events
- Plan for, supervise, and execute Grandview Ballroom set-ups and breakdowns to include moving furniture, cleaning restrooms and floors, trash removal, and table settings
- Delegate Grandview Ballroom cleaning tasks to Housekeeping Student Staff, but while being willing and able to perform and assist with the tasks
- Communicate with front and back-of-house management regarding necessary updates, documentation, and resources
- Work with the entire Grandview team on other duties as assigned
- Minimum one year of food services, catering, custodial, or facilities management
- Excellent time management skills
- Ability to keep up in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple deadlines
- Self-starter attitude and ability to work independently
- Ability to remain calm and make quick decisions under stressful circumstances
- Flexibility to work during weekends and holidays
- Holds self-accountable and can be relied upon to ensure that projects and schedules are maintained according to the business need of the organization
- Performs routine or repetitious tasks with care and attention to detail
- Willingness to set up and breakdown equipment
- Driver’s license and ability to drive a catering vehicle
- ServSafe Food Handler’s license (within first year of employment if not already cetified)
- Knowledge of cleaning procedures and ability to perform medium to heavy physical work.
- Ability to learn the proper use of heavy floor equipment.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.

- The average work week is Monday-Friday 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM
- Schedule days and times will vary based on business needs
- Must be willing to work a non-traditional 40-hour work week (eligible for additional compensation) and be flexible as needed
- Catering employees are required to work special events including, but not limited to, home football games, University commencement, other large-scale events
