Job Purpose

The Technical Sales Engineer will serve as the primary technical sales contact for Commercial Vehicle customers supporting customer product needs/inquires, engineering presentation, product communication, and technical and quality operations negotiations. 

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Primary Technical Sales contact for CV customers and affiliated companies account customers for Commercial Vehicle Products.
    • Primary contact for customer product needs/inquiries, engineering presentation, product communication, technical and quality operations negotiations
  • Executive briefings and communication with Senior Leadership 
    • Leading Technical, program, quality elements.
    • Supporting commercial meetings as needed.
  • Represent voice-of-the-customer within Dana.
  • Review, monitor, and drive improvement to customer activities monthly, including customer performance metrics.
  • Communication – both internally & externally
  • Lead internal Dana teams (to include Purchasing, Engineering, Quality) to achieve customers’ objectives.
  • Participate in new business quotation process and lead SOW negotiations.
  • Drive growth initiatives on traditional and electrified product.
  • Make product presentations to customer purchasing, engineering, and manufacturing departments/representatives.
  • Negotiate with customers on important technical matters (quality, delivery, and timing).
  • Build relationships with customers at different levels, departments (prioritizing engineering and technical leadership), to support current and future business.
  • Maintain current knowledge of competitor’s activity and significant changes and bring insights of customer and technical perspectives to internal business and product strategy activities, including development roadmaps and TDP. 
  • Collaborate with account managers, field service, production planning, and engineering for new business opportunities.
  • Identify customer needs, priorities, and problems and influence them to pursue Dana products or services as a solution.
  • Engage in internal business screening for incoming customer RFI/RFQ.
  • Support the development of customer-specific technical requirements.
  • Educate external/internal stakeholders on Dana’s latest technology offerings and how it improves their business.
  • Participate in sales activities for Dana products, systems, and engineering services.
  • Develop and maintain exceptional relationships between Dana and the customer.
  • Be a key point of contact for technical communications with the customer. Facilitate information requests for engineering and account management.

 

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (strongly preferred). Technical degree, Masters or MBA a plus.
  • 5 or more years of engineering or sales-engineering experience in an automotive/Commercial Vehicle sales and business development capacity.
  • Demonstrated 3 or more years of experience leading project teams (directly or indirectly).
  • Experience with electrified vehicle and powertrain systems (preferred).
