The Medical Assistants are typically scheduled 15-30 minutes before opening and after closing. They usually work one late evening per week and 1-2 Saturday per month depending on the needs of the clinic, though usually only one. If interested in working every Saturday, there could be an additional day off during the week. Specifics to be discussed on interview.
Pay Range
$21.45 - $32.20$2500 sign on bonus for external hires
AMG Chicago Ravenswood is a large Family Medicine and Primary Care office. Located in Ravenswood, Lakeview, Lincoln Square areas, we are the Family Medicine Residency practice for Illinois Masonic Hospital with 24 resident physicians and 15 attending physicians and Advance Practice Nurses. You would be a part of a large team of six nurses, 20 Medical Assistants (MAs) and 15 Patient Service Representatives (PSRs).
The Medical Assistant at AMG Chicago Ravenswood’s role is primarily rooming and vialing patients, as well as managing telephone and patient portal messages. We staff our own lab, where you will also train since we provide comprehensive training. While we are a Family Medicine practice, we have a large pediatric population and administer many injections and vaccines, along with a wide range of socioeconomically and culturally diverse patients. Spanish speaking is not required, but a plus, as it is our next most utilized language. Our Medical Assistants also play a larger role in Population Health management and supporting positive health outcomes for patients.
Major Responsibilities:
- Adheres to Medical Assistant scope of practice, follows all policies and procedures, and maintains training and competency based on area of specialty when providing patient care.
- Performs rooming/visit tasks such as vital signs, medication reconciliation, medical history, health maintenance, allergy review, and screenings (depression, suicide, falls, social drivers of health, etc.).
- Assists provider with or performs procedures as ordered.
- Performs lab related duties such as venipuncture, specimen collection/labeling/packing, preparation of lab orders/requisitions, and results tracking. Point of Care testing (POCT) per standing order/provider order. Completes Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) approved waived laboratory tests and practice-specific diagnostic testing in adherence to CLIA standards.
- Administers medications and vaccines safely following the rights of medication administration.
- Performs other duties as assigned such as medication refills, insurance authorizations, safety/regulatory log completion, patient messaging, medication/supply ordering, appointment scheduling, and referrals.
- Cross trained to perform duties that are relevant to specialty or clinic practice within the scope of the Medical Assistant.
- Demonstrates effective and timely communication, teamwork, and appropriate escalation.
- Maintains a clean work environment ensuring instruments and equipment are cleaned appropriately. Ensures equipment and supplies are in working order, and areas are appropriately stocked.
- Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures. Age-specific information is developed further in the departmental job standards.

Education
IL/WI Divisions:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
