The Sr. Project Manager has primary responsibility for the management of medium to large scale projects which often require larger project teams and/or cross functional teams or multiple non-related projects. The Sr. Project Manager will manage projects from original concept through final implementation, managing customer satisfaction and customer impact throughout. The Sr. Project Manager will lead the project team to proactively identify risks and issues that could challenge project delivery and will ensure those risks and issues are either mitigated or resolved. The Sr. Project Manager will also establish the appropriate governance in line with Markel standards and track benefits throughout the project lifecycle.

Work effectively with internal and external customers, third party vendors, governance and senior management in accomplishing project objectives.

Job Responsibilities
- Provides effective leadership to the project team, including facilitating/ensuring effective working relationships between team members, and takes appropriate action where team performance deviates from agreed tolerances
- Ensures that realistic project plans are maintained and ensures regular and accurate communication to project team and business stakeholders.
- Adopts appropriate project management methods and tools whether predictive (plan-driven) approaches or adaptive (iterative/agile) approaches
- Plans and drives scoping, requirements definition and prioritization activities for initiatives
- Identifies, assesses and manages risk to the success of the project
- Ensures that project deliverables are completed within agreed cost, timescale and resource budgets, and are signed off
- Responsible for stakeholder management. Negotiates with stakeholders to manage competing priorities and conflicts
- Highlights issues and risks identified during testing to stakeholders
- Implements planning activities, including managing the process of integrating new work with complementary strategic, operational and change management processes
- Works across teams to agree and implement any modifications to work and manages impacts on projects
- Accountable for managing project budgets, including the project CBA, and collating required financial data and reports for analysis to facilitate decision making on projects
- Acts as the routine contact point between the organization and suppliers, including resolving supplier related incidents, problems, or unsatisfactory performance.
- Occasionally required to work late evening and weekends as needed.
- May travel up to 10% as needed.
Position Requirements:
- 5-10 years of project and resource management experience

- Extensive knowledge of project management methodology

- Strong MS Project experience
- Experience with Microsoft Suite of Products - Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, SharePoint
- Extensive knowledge of project management methodology
- Extensive knowledge in resource and change management
Education:
- College degree in Business related field or Information Technology
- PMP certification (preferred)
- Insurance industry experience preferred
