About the role
The SNC Director of Business Development will be responsible for successful market penetration of general aviation and large commercial transport OEM markets, airline aftermarket programs, commercial helicopter, and Vertical Powered Lift markets. As Director Business Development, you'll define and analyze critical new business development opportunities, develop and execute capture/growth strategies, and influence stakeholders and customers on win strategies. You'll drive all capture and BD lifecycle opportunities and develop foundations for the win strategy and technical approach for each new product development/planning activity that directly relates to the needs, issues and challenges of the customer. Your duties will also include staying current on market trends, key customer budgets, and future customer needs through independent research, and provide analysis on competitive RFPs to understand customer requirements.The Mission Solutions and Technologies (MST) business area provides affordable, turn-key command/control, communications, integrated ISR, force protection and security solutions worldwide. The MST team has a long legacy of supporting the Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security, commercial and international customers with years of experience in platform operations, engineering and full lifecycle management across domains – air, land, sea, space and cyber.
Qualifications You Must Have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Business Development, Marketing or a related field
- Relevant experience may substitute for required education
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of one or more of the following disciplines: Business development, capture management, program management, science and engineering programs, acquisition processes, opportunity identification and qualification
- Demonstrated ability to work with senior business and government leaders and to provide leadership within the workplace
- Working knowledge and experience with engineering support acquisition organizations
- Experience developing account plans and capture plans for new business opportunities
- Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry, the US Department of Defense (Civilian), NASA/Civil or commercial space and/or US Military, with an understanding of defense, aerospace, intelligence, and adjacent markets
- Significant management and technical experience with advanced commercial avionics systems such as Enhanced Flight Vision System (EFVS), which should include aviation experience as a corporate or commercial air transport pilot
- Advanced avionics experience should include development of product cost and pricing, ROI and value programs for new commercial aircraft or aftermarket programs, product marketing and sales campaign strategies
- Active Regulatory experience with FAA, Transport Canada and EASA/other relevant civil aviation authorities for rule development, certification, and compliance, OPSPEC approvals, Part 135 or 121 Operating Certificates. Could include US and global aviation standards development for civil aviation avionics systems
- Business experience in manufacture of FAA regulated aviation products, which should include background with Parts Manufacturing approvals (PMA), compliance regulations & policies, design, and production approvals
- Successful C level business development experience with aircraft OEMs and airlines, both large and regional is needed. The Director is expected to interface and develop relationships with CEOs, CFO’s, Chief Pilot, TECHOPS, Chief Regulatory & Corporate Affairs, operational management, and engineering leaders.
- Management and market development experience in commercial avionics, cost and pricing, ROI and value programs for new commercial aircraft or aftermarket programs, product marketing and sales campaign strategies
- Development of a global sales force, airline and customer product support programs, training and regulatory process are key elements this position.
- Experience managing and working in a multi-discipline team environment
- Ability to travel on average 50%
- The ability to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance is required
Qualifications We Prefer:
- Management Experience with aircraft and airline executives, commercial avionic suppliers
- Commercial Operational aviation experience as a corporate or airline pilot
- Flight experience with modern and advanced commercial avionics, HUDs, vision systems such as EFVS, SVS
- Program experience with FAA certification programs and service entry for new and commercial air transport aircraft
Estimated Starting Salary: $175,103.51 - $240,767.33
