SENIOR SUBJECT MATTER EXPERT, CRIMINAL JUSTICE

The CRIMINAL JUSTICE SENIOR SUBJECT MATTER EXPERT will perform a range of analytical, writing, editing, training, and technical assistance, coaching, problem-solving and related work in support of multiple projects addressing community gun violence and large-scale violent incidents. Specifically, you will be responsible for ensuring that training and technical assistance (TTA) services are delivered to the states, territories, and local jurisdictions through assessing needs and developing, overseeing, and implementing TTA plans. One of your key goals is to support your team in pro-actively reaching victim service organizations, service providers, and the criminal justice system at national, state, and local levels, many of whom may not be familiar with best practices in response. Can you plan and coordinate the delivery of training and technical assistance services to the field? Do you have a thorough knowledge of victim services? Do you have subject matter expertise to guide localities through complex victim centered responses to violent incidents? Are you able to coach and supervise the work of others?

Key Responsibilities:

• Serve as a subject matter expert on best practices in victim centered, trauma informed response to community and other types of violent incidences across several ICF projects, to include providing strategic guidance, technical expertise, and leadership that supports the success of projects.
• Respond to the training and technical assistance needs of victim service providers, criminal justice organizations, and governmental entities
• Serve as a coach, supervisor, or mentor to responders as needed.
• Provide best practices guidance to national, state and local victim assistance programs, criminal justice system organizations, and government organizations and allied professional groups on how to maximize their use of available resources to build capacity, resolve issues, troubleshoot problems and recommend solutions to support effective service delivery and response to victims of crime.
• Perform direct outreach and building relationships with local and statewide programs, as appropriate for the project.
• Attend onsite TTA events to present, monitor, observe content and assist participants as needed.
• Participate in complex projects related to area of specialization and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure project success.
• Offer strategic insights to senior management and executives to assist with planning.

Basic Qualifications:

• Masters’ degree in the social sciences, criminal justice, victimology, or related field.
• Minimum 10 years of experience working in a system or community-based victim service program or in community response to disasters.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in human services and criminal justice social science research and evidence-based programs and practices.
• Minimum 5 years of experience delivering TTA remotely and in person to victim service organizations.
