What You’ll Do
Reporting to the Vice President, Actuarial, the Director, Actuarial Services will oversee actuarial management of risk contracts, pricing of new opportunities and renewals, some IBNR reserve development, financial projections, and analysis of performance. This role will work closely with business development, customer success, finance and Medical Economics teams and will be responsible for communicating financial performance to internal leadership. This role is critical in supporting the company’s financial health and enhancing performance across Commercial, Medicare, and Medicaid programs, particularly through value-based care initiatives.
The Day to Day
- Manage, develop, and hire a team of talented and driven Actuarial Analysts
- Lead reserve development and settlement calculations to support financial month close, ensuring accurate and timely reserve calculations
- Collaborate effectively with Finance team to consolidate monthly enterprise level financial results and record appropriate entries
- Effectively communicate financial results to leadership (including Chief Actuary, CFO and CEO), telling a clear and concise story on drivers of performance and potential areas of improvement
- Work directly with reinsurance brokers to secure stop loss and financial guarantee policies
- Support the accounting team in annual audit process
- Build, maintain and improve Financial Projection models, tools for analyzing and explaining cost drivers, settlement calculations, robust reporting, and actionable analytics.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Math, Actuarial Science, Finance, Economics, Statistics, Business, or relevant field
- ASA / FSA Designation through the Society of Actuaries
- 8+ years’ experience in the healthcare industry
