FABRICATION TECHNICIAN – FABRICATION / PROTOTYPE DEPARTMENT
JOB LOCATION (SOUTHFIELD, MICHIGAN – LEAR/WORLD HEADQUARTERS)
As a member of the Fabrication / Prototype team, the Fabrication Technician will be responsible for performing a variety of fabrication duties such as machining, fabrication, and welding. To assist with the development of test fixtures and test equipment. Also, modifications of production parts or creating prototype parts to assist Engineering.
The Role:
Your work will include, but not limited to:
- Completion of routine tasks under general supervision.
- Complete knowledge of machine shop equipment and tools. (Various Metal Machinery including Press Brake, Shear, Iron Worker, and Engine Lathe)
- Working knowledge of measurement tools such as tape measure, micrometer, and caliper.
- Bridgeport milling machine, engine lathe and CNC machining.
- Ability to read shop prints or CAD models and be able to produce required parts to complete the job.
- Strong knowledge of fabrication and prototype parts.
- A strong knowledge of Metal Inert Gas (MIG) and Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) welding processes for steel and aluminum.
- Ability to work independently in a highly productive, constantly changing environment.
- Ability to collaborate will Engineering
- Strong communication skills
The Task Breakdown with percentages:
- 100% Machining and or Fabrication.
Your Qualifications:
- High School + specialized training, or relevant work experience.
- Minimum work experience 3 – 5 years.
- MIG and TIG manual welding.
- Machine shops skills.
- Fabrication and Prototype skills
Bonus If You Have:
- CNC machining and programming a plus. Utilizing Work NC or compatible.
